From the Memphis Business Journal:

The Center City Revenue Finance Corp. (CCRFC) approved a $1.7 million bond issue for general maintenance to the Memphis Cook Convention Center at its meeting Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau president Kevin Kane says the $1.7 million will be used to fund improvements to the Convention Center’s HVAC system and other energy efficiency initiatives.

Potential upgrades and renovations to the Convention Center — tied to a recently approved 1.8 percent hotel/motel tax increase — are still being planned, Kane says. That project, which is estimated to be between $50 million and $60 million, is expected to launch this summer.
