As you probably know, Memphis is known for its musical history. What you may not know about are the efforts to keep the tradition alive with the children of our city.

On July 28, 2012, Ken and Sallie Hall opened the very first School of Rock for the children of Memphis to express their musical interests. Located at 9303 Poplar Avenue, the School of Rock offers teachers, instruments and musical programs for students to “jam their way to success.”

“School of Rock isn’t just about creating killer musicians with a lasting love for all things rock. Because life isn’t a solo act, we’re equally focused on creating awesome bands of friends and musicians. We’re as much about orchestrating a community in Memphis full of cool experiences as we are about building confidence, extraordinary teamwork, and achieving excellence through our unique teaching method.” –

The School of Rock students debut their talents throughout each year at Club 152, located in the heart of our musical city on Beale Street. Club 152 offers its space to the program to provide parents and supporters of the group a musical themed area to showcase the many talents of the School of Rock students.
